Newport Beach 2006
I know, it isn't totally sand dune related, but here are a few
shots from the family vacation to Newport Beach.

Dolphins graced our presence every day we were at the beach. Sometimes they
would just be passing by. Other times they were obviously eating, and a
few times they were just playing in the waves.

Newport Beach has its own beach cleaner. Wouldn't it be great for BLM to use one
of these at Oldsmobile Hill?
While in Southern California, I was able to hook up with Shawn
Gibson for a tour of the Gibson
Performance Exhaust shop.

Gibson is finishing up testing on their new quiet tip for sand
rails. I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek of the new design even though they
aren't quite ready for end user sales.

Gibson's Quiet Tip forces some of the exhaust around the outside of the chamber
to a custom spiral. The new tips reduce air flow a bit, in order to reduce noise
output. But the good news is Gibson is so far actually seeing some power
improvements over a more standard straight-through style tip.
