Sand Mountain Trip Report
May 2006 - Day Trip
Forecast was 85 degrees and just a light wind for our May 12 day
trip to Sand Mountain. We stuffed two rails in one trailer and headed to Sand
Mountain for a bit of testing. Bob's Hayabusa mini rail had a new turbo setup
(header, intake, plenum and exhaust) and we were working on some fine tuning to
Jon's mid-engine sand car. The wind had blown pretty hard during the week,
so we were treated to some smooth sand.

the ground.

On the Drive Home
On the way home, we hit something on the road with the trailer
and ended up blowing two tires on the trailer near Lake Tahoe. One tire was
completely shredded and the other has a nice puncture hole in the tread. With
only one spare on a Friday night in Lake Tahoe, we decided to use fix-a-flat
and tire plugs to try to salvage the tire with the puncture. It was
successful, and we limped home after a long day.
