DuneGuide.com is in the process of building
a Rhino up for dune and desert rides. Our Rhino will
appear in Product Reviews, Magazine
articles and be part of many events & rides a throughout the United States. Stay
tuned as we research and select the products that will be used.
The starting point - our stock 2007 Yamaha Rhino 660 4x4
DuneGuide.com's 2007 Rhino 660 Auto. 4x4 is decked out in
Hardwoods HD Camo.
Now the buildup begins!
During our Yamaha Rhino Product
Review last year (Sand Addiction Magazine - December 2005), we identified several areas where the Rhino fell short
when it came to serious duning. During our buildup, we will be addressing these
shortcomings in several steps.
The first step is to address a few safety concerns with a
stock Rhino. This will include seats & harnesses, roll cage and either
doors (partial or whole) or some type of bar to keep
legs inside the Rhino. We will also need some mirrors so we can see what is
behind us in the dunes. HID lights and a lighted whip flag & mount so we can
see and be seen at night. We will be adding wheel
spacers to increase the track width and increase stability.
Second project will be a long travel kit (shocks, a-arms, etc.), wheels and tires.
Addressing the suspension will not only make the Rhino more fun to drive and
more capable, but will also make it more safe by increasing track width,
wheelbase and wheel travel.
Performance will be next up. The Rhino is seriously lacking in
power. There are several bolt-on type improvements to be made - CDI, air filters,
exhaust, jetting, clutch sheave, etc. Products may be added and reviewed in
steps.
Last on the list will be a few accessories. Even though we don't
intend for this Rhino to be a trailer queen, a little bling can be fun. Plus
many of these accessories help protect your Rhino and make it more comfortable.

having your product featured as part of this buildup or a general Product
Review, please send
